Vision & Objectives


SRTRI strongly believes in the holistic development of human resources for a sustainable rural development and permanent solution for rural poverty eradication. This approach assumes the tasks of empowering the poor in several interrelated aspects human development viz. technical skills, interpersonal skills, entrepreneurial skills, soft skills, values and ethics, awareness on better health and social perils, etc. The core mission of the Institute rests upon the concept of building the capacities of the rural poor, especially youth and women for enhancement of their living standards and quality of life. The prime focus is on rural friendly, sustainable smaller technologies, so as to enable the rural poor earn sustainable incomes and lead quality life.

 

VISION

A pro-active platform for rural empowerment through research, education, training, extension and consultancy for promotion of sustainable rural enterprises, income-generating activities, employment, and socio-cultural empowerment based on Gandhian principles and Bhoodan movement.

 

OBJECTIVES

  1. To play a pro-active role in the cause of rural development and rural transformation following the Gandhian principles and Bhoodan movement,

  3. To provide education and training for rural development and train artisans, craftsmen and professionals to work in rural areas,
  4. To give short term and long term, formal and non-formal training to extension workers, teachers, and other personnel in all areas of rural development,
  5. To identify and train potential promoters of rural development, and
  6. To promote indigenous technical knowledge and approaches to Gandhian concept of health, education and rural development.
